Maybe this is causing the auto iris to close up (pardon my ignorance if that understanding is incorrect) and not let in enough light for the rest of the scene.ģ) It's just a challenging scene in general since the majority of the picture is an asphalt driveway that is absorbing the majority of light. The picture looks fine during the day if not over saturated.Ģ) The eaves of the house are in the picture and brightly lit by the infrared. For example, maybe the lens isn't letting enough light in at night. It does improve but I still think it underwhelms compared to what I've seen these Darkfighter cams do on other people's reviews and YouTube videos.ġ) I don't have the settings tweaked quite right. I can obviously improve my situation by leaving exterior lights on but I'd like to see what I can get out of this camera first. Nothing really happens when I move this setting around at night.Īny ideas? I'm open to suggestions both on the cameras settings or in the physical world. I'm simply not familiar with this setting and what it accomplishes. Gain is set to 60 but cranking that up towards 100 just makes the picture foggy looking Exposure is set to 1/30 which is oddly the lowest it can go in the firmware. What are some settings I should be tweaking to get the most out of this camera? You pretty much couldn't see a thing so on that note I know I am getting SOME improvement out of the box. ![]() I previously had a DS-2CD2132F-IS in this location and it was basically worthless at night. It's certainly not as good of results as I've seen from other people with Hikvision Darkfighter cameras. I would have figured this is typical of our average 2-line $100 bullet or dome camera but I'm a bit surprised that a low light camera is struggling this much with this scene. ![]() ![]() If you blow it up to full screen, you can see that it is very noisy and nothing along the lines of fine detail is available. The area I'm looking at is basically pitch black at night with none of the kind of ambient light you would normally get in a neighborhood or city.Īttached is an image of what I'm working with right now. I recently installed a DS-2CD4526FWD-IZH Low Light camera to help with a very challenging light situation.
